{tit}{cp}PERFORMANCE FORD UPPER MANIFOLD INSULATOR TO SUIT EF EL AU BA BF 6 Cylinder I6 Exclusive to MACE Engineering, our design-registered manifold insulator to suit Ford Falcon 6 cylinder engines EF-BF Key benefits:
What are manifold insulators and what do they do? Manifold insulators are a thermal insulating spacer that mounts between your upper and lower intake manifold. Made from a heat blocking composite, our manifold insulators will increase power from your engine by keeping the intake cooler, and increase low end torque by increasing runner length. But how do manifold insulators keep the intake manifold cooler? Given our manifold insulators are made from a composite material with a thermal conductivity of 0.29 W/m*K as opposed to aluminium, which has a thermal conductivity of 150 W/m*K; The difference works out to be that aluminum conducts heat 500 times higher then our composite material! Also, with gaskets often made out of steel (20 W/m*K thermal conductivity), placed between the upper and lower manifolds, replacing a .5mm gasket with a 10mm manifold insulator will conduct an amazing 1087 times less heat (yes, that's over 100,000% reduction!). What this basically means is that it becomes very difficult for the engine to heat up the manifold, which ultimately means more power for extended periods (i.e. considerably fewer heat soak issues)! Our composite material also exhibits high stiffness and compressive strength, can withstand temperatures up to nearly 150°C, and has a thermal expansion coefficient very similar to aluminum to increase sealing capabilities. In addition, the spacer can also withstand boosted conditions with ease. So what's included in the auction? Included in the auction is a 12mm thick manifold insulator, longer manifold bolts and gasket sealer. What about Installation? Installation is straight forward, requiring only the removal of your upper manifold to install the manifold insulator as shown below. One Lap of the Web: Auto pics, a pretty Ferrari and rallies
Thu, 03 Oct 2013Who can forget the wild days of Group B? Lancia's wild 037 was the last rear-wheel-drive monster to win a championship in the WRC, doing so in 1983. Our friends at Automobiliac have a great video of a bunch of 037s doing their thing at a historic rally.
Growing opposition to UK 50mph speed limit plan
Mon, 08 Jun 2009UK Government plans to cut 60mph national speed limit to 50mph in 2010 By Peter Adams Motoring Issues 08 June 2009 14:21 Opposition to the UK Government’s plan to lower the national speed limit from 60 to 50mph is gathering momentum. Almost 34,000 people have now signed a petition on the Number 10 website urging the Government to ‘not reduce the national speed limit to 50mph.’ It’s become the second most popular petition on the site – ahead of similar bids to stop the Government raising university tuition fees and beaten only by one calling for Gordon Brown to resign as prime minister.Cutting the UK’s national speed limits from 60mph to 50mph: the backgroundBack in March 2009, plans were announced that the Government wanted to cut the national speed limit from 60mph to 50mph on single carriageways in rural areas. In urban areas, some 30mph limits could drop to 20mph.If steamrollered through, the sweeping change to Britain’s speed limits could be enforced from 2010.
